The CBD industry has undergone a major transformation over the last eight years. However, its steep rise in popularity hasn’t been coupled with widely disseminated research and education. Instead, countless companies have flooded the scene touting CBD-infused products that remain highly questionable. These companies are eager to claim their unique resolution to any number of your personal ailments, but they are excruciatingly slow to provide you with any data that actually backs this up.
The result? CBD consumers have been left to blindly fumble through the dark as they navigate this new terrain. In the pursuit of health and wellness, many individuals have tried myriad products; yet, just as many have been left confused, frustrated, and disappointed.
If this has been your experience, we’re here to help answer your looming questions, troubleshoot your problems, and suggest a CBD routine that actually elevates your existence. Let’s dive in.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 100 natural compounds found in the cannabis plant, but it’s most often derived from hemp. It’s known for its enormous therapeutic potential and appears to play the most significant role in the plant’s medicinal benefits.
How does CBD work?
CBD works by activating the body’s natural endocannabinoid system, which regulates your overall physiology, the functioning of your immune system, your mood stability, and much of your everyday experience. In an optimal state, your body naturally produces signals to self-regulate and find homeostatic balance. Stress can create disruptions in this process, and prolonged dis-ease can ultimately lead to disease states. CBD can be thought of as a safe and natural adaptogen, which supports your body in moving back toward a balanced baseline.
What is the difference between Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and CBD Isolate?
Full spectrum, or “whole plant extract”, consists of cannabidiol (CBD) and all of the phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that accompany it. The synergistic relationship between these natural compounds creates an “entourage effect”, magnifying the natural benefits of the plant.
Broad spectrum CBD has a full spectrum profile, but the THC is removed. In a broad spectrum product, multiple phytocannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids are preserved; therefore, it can still deliver the enhanced benefits of the “entourage effect”.
CBD isolate is the most isolated form of the cannabinoid. During the extraction process, all other plant compounds are removed, including phytocannabinoids like THC, terpenes and flavonoids.
What is the difference between hemp and cannabis?
Hemp is of the same genus as Cannabis, but contains less than 0.3% THC. To legally grow industrial hemp, it must test below 0.3% THC in dry weight. Humans have grown hemp for thousands of years and it’s one of the strongest, most durable, soft fibers on this planet. This makes hemp useful for a wide variety of consumer products, including paper, fuel, oils, medicine, clothing, housing, plastic, rope, and even food – like hemp milk and hemp hearts!
How much CBD is right for me?
Unfortunately, due to FDA regulations, we cannot recommend a specific dosage. We encourage each customer to experiment with different dosages and evaluate the effect.
The best serving size will be determined by your metabolism and any pre-existing deficiencies within your endocannabinoid system. Similar to a vitamin deficiency, your body can experience shortages in cannabinoid receptors. It may take time to build to therapeutic levels of CBD in your bloodstream and find a dose that supports your daily intake and various health goals.
Our motto, start low and go slow!
Will CBD get me high?
No, CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not get you ‘high’. Users may feel relaxed, but this is physiologically different than the intoxicating high experienced with THC.
Will CBD products show up on a drug test?
It is possible to test positive on a drug test from using full spectrum hemp products, despite the trace amounts of THC.
For those who may be concerned, we offer THC free options, like our Classic Mint Oil.
Does CBD react with prescription medications?
It’s important to always consult with a qualified medical professional to determine how new CBD supplements may interact with medications you are already taking.
Are Cured CBD products tested by a third party?
Third-party testing of hemp-derived CBD products is not a requirement by law, but it can be an important indication of quality and is therefore undeniably necessary for understanding the potency and purity of a product. Each Cured product is third-party tested for the absence of harmful contaminants like microbials, pesticides and heavy metals. We publish the details directly on our website to offer you complete transparency.
Test results can be found here.
Where is Cured CBD sourced?
Hemp is a bio-accumulator, meaning it has the ability to absorb both the good and the bad from the air, water, and soil in which it’s grown. This is why it’s important to find CBD products that come from organically grown hemp that is easily traced back to a farm in the U.S. Thankfully, we don’t look far. Our hemp is locally sourced from partner farms right here in our neighborhood. Pure, Colorado-grown bliss.
Are CBD products legal?
In the U.S., CBD derived from industrial hemp is considered a dietary supplement and is legal to purchase and ship nationwide. All of our American industrial hemp CBD plants are grown and distributed in full compliance with the State of Colorado, as well as in full federal compliance with §7606 of the 2014 US Farm Bill.
